Former Buzzfeed culture reporter Anne Helen Petersen’s new book, CAN’T EVEN, published on Tuesday to a wealth of praise. The Atlantic writes: “Over the course of CAN’T EVEN, Petersen convincingly draws a line from society-level economic shifts that took place decades ago to how overwhelmed—by work, by debt, by everyday life—many 20- and 30-somethings feel today.” The book also received great attention from NPR, Salon, BuzzFeed, and The Wall Street Journal. HMH published the book on September 22, 2020.

HOW IT ALL BLEW UP by Arvin Ahmadi

Arvin Ahmadi’s HOW IT ALL BLEW UP, a YA contemporary novel about a gay, Muslim Iranian-American teen who runs away to Rome to escape coming out to his family, has received a starred review from School Library Journal. They hails the novel as a “fast-paced coming out/coming-of-age/coming home story” and a “funny and propulsive read, nuanced and full of heart.” Viking Books for Young Readers will publish the book on September 22, 2020.

COLLECTED STORIES by Shirley Hazzard

Vulture featured Shirley Hazzard’s COLLECTED STORIES as one of their “19 Books We’re Excited to Read this Fall.” They write: “It sent me straight back to the bookshelf for another read of [Hazzard’s] THE GREAT FIRE and TRANSIT OF VENUS, and reignited my quest to become a connoisseur of too-little-loved mid-century female writers.” Farrar, Straus & Giroux will publish the book on November 3, 2020.

STRANGER FACES by Namwali Serpell

Vulture featured Namwali Serpell’s STRANGER FACES as one of their “19 Books We’re Excited to Read this Fall.” In their write-up, they call the book a “delightful deep dive.” Transit Books will publish the book on October 20, 2020.

THE HEATWAVE by Kate Riordan

Already a hit in the UK, Kate Riordan’s new thriller THE HEATWAVE published in the US this past week. Selected as a most-anticipated book by Better Homes and Gardens, the New York Post, Good Morning America, and many more, this chilling novel set in the South of France is the perfect read for August. Riordan held a virtual launch event with Rosie Walsh, author of New York Times bestseller GHOSTED, via Poisoned Pen Books on August 20th. Grand Central published the book on August 18, 2020.

THE BEAUTY OF LIVING TWICE by Sharon Stone

Both The Hollywood Reporter and USA Today shared their anticipation for Sharon Stone’s upcoming memoir, THE BEAUTY OF LIVING TWICE, which her editor describes as “a celebration of strength and resilience, a reckoning, and a call to activism.” Knopf will publish the book in March of 2021.

THE LIONS OF FIFTH AVENUE by Fiona Davis

The latest novel by bestselling author Fiona Davis was selected as the Good Morning America Book Club pick for August. Davis says that the book is “about the magic of the written word and the power of women’s voices, and it’s dedicated to some of [her] favorite people: librarians.” Dutton published the book on August 4, 2020.

BUNKER by Bradley Garrett

Bradley Garrett discussed his recent release BUNKER on The Joe Rogan Experience as well as in a Q&A with Newsweek. The Guardian also published an enthusiastic review of the title, calling it “a kind of apocalyptic Super Size Me, in which the author force feeds himself a steady diet of paranoia, conspiracy, eschatology and end-times architecture.” Scribner published the book on August 4, 2020.

IT IS WOOD, IT IS STONE by Gabriella Burnham

Dual citizen of the U.S. and Brazil Gabriella Burnham’s glittering debut, IT IS WOOD, IT IS STONE, has been named a best book of the summer by Bustle, Elle, Marie Claire, Book Riot, and many other outlets. Shelf Awareness raves: “This debut novel is striking in its confident, close study of a complex woman in a fragile marriage.” The book was also chosen by Amazon as a Best Book of August in the Fiction & Literature category. Additionally, Nantucket Magazine featured the book in their August issue, along with a profile of the author. One World published the book on July 28, 2020.
