THE NESTING DOLLS by Alina Adams

Alina Adams’s sweeping historical debut, THE NESTING DOLLS, published last week. Adams held a virtual launch on Zoom via Shakespeare & Company to welcome her novel, a multi-generational saga chronicling the lives of three Russian-Jewish women from Odessa to Bright Beach, into the world. Harper published the book on July 14, 2020.

VIA NEGATIVA by Daniel Hornsby

Daniel Hornsby’s debut novel was featured in The Millions’ Great Second Half 2020 Book Preview. The site calls VIA NEGATIVE a “truly transcendent road novel.” Knopf will publish the book on August 11, 2020.

THE LIVES OF EDIE PRITCHARD by Larry Watson

Larry Watson’s latest novel was featured in The Millions’ Great Second Half 2020 Book Preview. The site describes the book as being “[evocative of] Annie Proulx,” and praises it as a “testament by one of our greatest ‘regional’ novelists to the power of stories.” Algonquin Books will publish the book on July 21, 2020.

DADDY’S GIRLS by Danielle Steel

The latest novel from Danielle Steel made its debut on the New York Times Bestseller List for the week of June 28, 2020. It debuted at number 2 on the Combined Print & E-book Fiction list. Dell published the book on June 9, 2020.

HEAD OVER HEELS by Hannah Orenstein

LOVE AT FIRST LIKE author Hannah Orenstein’s latest novel, HEAD OVER HEELS, published to a flurry of great press this past Tuesday. Orenstein sat down for an interview with Bustle, and had original pieces published in Lit Hub and Frolic on publication day. She also held a virtual book launch via The Strand in conversation with Bad on Paper cohost Becca Freeman. Atria published the book on June 23, 2020.

THE MARGOT AFFAIR by Sanaë Lemoine

Food writer and editor Sanaë Lemoine’s wonderful debut, THE MARGOT AFFAIR, published to a flurry of praise this past week. The novel was featured as a New York Times Editor’s Pick, and was met with glowing reviews in both the Arts section and the Book Review’s Shortlist. Lemoine also had original pieces published by Lit Hub, Guernica, and other outlets to herald the book’s pub day. Hogarth published the book on June 16, 2020.

HUMANKIND by Rutger Bregman

Rutger Bregman’s HUMANKIND debuted at #11 on the New York Times Bestseller List for Hardcover Nonfiction. Bregman spoke about his book on the podcasts On the Media and The Ezra Klein Show. Additionally, PEOPLE Magazine published an excerpt from HUMANKIND titled “Inside the Lord of the Flies Survival of 6 Tongan Boys 54 Years Ago: 'The Story We Need Now.'” Little, Brown and Company published the book on June 2, 2020.

LAST TANG STANDING by Lauren Ho

Ms. Magazine featured LAST TANG STANDING on their list of reads for June 2020, calling it “a super-fun romantic comedy with robust characters and witty repartee.” Additionally, Slate included the title on their “Quarantine Summer Reading List.” G. P. Putnam’s Sons published the book on June 9, 2020.

HUMANKIND by Rutger Bregman

Rutger Bregman sat down for a virtual lunch with Simon Kuper of the Financial Times. Kuper writes: “[Bregman’s] new book, HUMANKIND, displays his gift for synthesizing libraries full of academic research into spellbinding reads.” NPR also interviewed Bregman for their Weekend Edition Saturday program. During the discussion, Bregman weighs in on the timing of his book release, saying, “More than 700 case studies that show that, especially in times of crisis, we show our best selves . . . This happens again and again after natural disasters, after earthquakes and after floodings. And I think that, if you zoom out a little bit during this pandemic, you see the same phenomenon.” Little, Brown and Company published the book on June 2, 2020.
