BECOMING SUPERMAN by J. Michael Straczynski has been named a finalist for the 2020 Hugo Awards in the category Best Related Work. This award is given to a work related to the field of science fiction, fantasy, or fandom. Harper Voyager published the book on July 23, 2019.

WHAT WE INHERIT by Jessica Pearce Rotondi

Jessica Pearce Rotondi appeared on Zibby Owen’s Instagram Live show, #MomsDontHaveTimeToReadBooks, to discuss her forthcoming memoir WHAT WE INHERIT. Rotondi will also be doing an Instagram takeover for The Chicago Review of Books starting April 15th. Unnamed Press will publish the book on April 21, 2020.

THE ROXY LETTERS by Mary Pauline Lowry

Mary Pauline Lowry’s riot of a sophomore novel, THE ROXY LETTERS, published with great fanfare last week. The Washington Post’s “Book Maven” Bethanne Patrick calls it “the kind of comic novel we need right now. Not just because it is fun, funny and filled with eccentrics, but because Lowry's novel proves that good people working together can make positive changes.” Simon & Schuster published the book on April 7, 2020.

THE TRYING GAME by Amy Klein

THE TRYING GAME, a debut book from New York Times “Fertility Diary” blogger Amy Klein, hit shelves last Tuesday. A primer on all things related to fertility treatments, Klein’s book is a must-have for those facing obstacles on their journey to motherhood. Ballantine Books published the book on April 7, 2020.

WINE GIRL by Victoria James

Victoria James, partner and beverage director of COTE Korean Steakhouse in NYC, published an article in Refinery29 about supporting local businesses during quarantine by purchasing wine. “[D]rinking right now can also be a virtuous act,” says James, “one that could save a lot of small businesses from financial ruin. By drinking a bottle you purchased from your local restaurant or wine shop, you are helping these places stay afloat during the lockdown.” Ecco published James’s memoir, WINE GIRL, on March 24, 2020.

GIRL CRUSHED by Katie Heaney

Katie Heaney’s YA debut, GIRL CRUSHED, published to great acclaim this past Tuesday. PopSugar named it one of the 25 Best Books Coming Out in April, and Indigo featured it on their list of Top Ten Teen Books for April. Additionally, Refinery29 published an exclusive excerpt from GIRL CRUSHED on their website as well as an interview with the author. Heaney also held a fabulous virtual launch on Instagram Live with R29’s Director of Fashion & Culture, Gabrielle Korn. On publication day, The Cut featured an article by Katie Heaney in which she discusses her transition from adult books to YA. Knopf Books for Young Readers published the book on April 7, 2020.

GOLDEN GATES by Conor Dougherty

GOLDEN GATES was a New York Times Editors’ Choice book last week. They call it “an empathetic portrait of all sides [of California’s housing crisis] — legislators, developers, pro-housing and anti-gentrification activists — as well as a masterly primer on the fight for new construction in California.” Penguin Press published the book on February 18, 2020.
