Six publishers participated in an auction for rights to the book conducted on October 24 by Hilburn’s literary representative, Luke Janklow of Janklow & Nesbit Associates. “When one of the greatest songwriters alive agrees to talk to one of the most respected music writers at work, that’s an irresistible combination,” said Jonathan Karp, President and Publisher of Simon & Schuster, who acquired World English rights to the work along with senior editor Jofie Ferrari-Adler.

THE SHANNARA CHRONICLES by Terry Brooks

While MTV is the network you'll see SHANNARA in the U.S., television networks around the world are fighting for the right to air SHANNARA in their respective country. The first of the international networks has just been announced: Herbert L. Kloiber’s TMG has acquired the rights for German-speaking Europe from Sonar Entertainment.

IT books published the book in hardcover March 11, 2014.

Pulitzer Prize winning author, John Branch’s thought-provoking book about the life and death of hockey enforcer Derek Boorgaard has been selected by Publishers Weekly as one of the best nonfiction books of the year 2014. Norton published the hardcover on October 1st, 2014.

THE LAND OF STEADY HABITS by Ted Thompson

Ted Thompson’s THE LAND OF STEADY HABITS was named one of the “Top 10 First Novels” by Booklist, which called it an “assured, scathing, heartbreaking, yet funny and redemptive first novel of midlife angst and grievous societal failures.” Little, Brown published the book on March 5, 2014.

The PW reviews editors are blogging about some of their favorites and the latest post, written on 10/29/14 by Everett Jones, says “There have been biographies, critical studies, and all kinds of books about John Wayne before—there was even a second one published this year—but I can’t imagine any forthcoming that would supplant what Scott Eyman has done here.”
