THE PROPHETS by Robert Jones Jr. has been longlisted for the 2021 Center for Fiction First Novel Prize. The shortlist will be announced this fall, and the winner will be announced in December at the Center for Fiction’s Annual Awards Benefit. THE PROPHETS was also longlisted for the Crook's Corner Book Prize, which was created to “highlight emerging fiction writers who typically face some of the toughest obstacles in publishing.” The winner will be announced in January 2022. G.P. Putnam’s Sons published THE PROPHETS on January 5, 2021.

Wally Koval’s ACCIDENTALLY WES ANDERSON was named one of AIGA’s “50 Books | 50 Covers 2020” winners. The book will be archived both in the AIGA Design Archives—a permanent, accessible, and historic collection of notable graphic design—and the AIGA collection at the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at Columbia University’s Butler Library in the city of New York. Voracious published the book on October 20, 2020.

Ed Yong is the 2021 Pulitzer Prize Award Winner for Explanatory Journalism. The award is for a distinguished example of explanatory reporting that illuminates a significant and complex subject, demonstrating mastery of the subject, lucid writing and clear presentation. Ed Yong, writing for The Atlantic authored "a series of lucid, definitive pieces on the COVID-19 pandemic that anticipated the course of the disease, synthesized the complex challenges the country faced, illuminated the U.S. government’s failures and provided clear and accessible context for the scientific and human challenges it posed." He has previously been awarded the George Polk Award for Science Reporting. His acclaimed book I CONTAIN MULTITUDES was published by Ecco on August 9, 2016.

Cathy Park Hong's New York Times bestselling book, MINOR FEELINGS has been announced as a 2021 Pulitzer Prize Finalist in General Nonfiction.
One World published the paperback edition of MINOR FEELINGS on March 2, 2021.

For the second consecutive year, Maxim Loskutoff's work has been nominated for a High Plains Book Award. Winner of the 2020 Short Stories Award for his debut collection COME WEST AND SEE, Loskutoff is now one of three finalists for the 2021 Fiction Award for his first novel, RUTHIE FEAR. The High Plains Books Awards recognize “regional literary works which examine and reflect life on the High Plains, including the states of Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Colorado and Kansas, and the Canadian provinces of Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.” The final winners will be announced at a ceremony in September during the High Plains BookFest. W.W. Norton & Company published RUTHIE FEAR on September 1, 2020.

GOLDEN GATES by Conor Dougherty is a nonfiction finalist for the 90th Annual California Book Awards. Award Jury Chair Peter Fish writes: “We think this year’s finalists are especially timely, innovative, and thought-provoking…[the finalists] demonstrate the extraordinary diversity of California literature.” Penguin Press published the book on February 18, 2020.

THE PRETTIEST STAR by Carter Sickels is a fiction finalist for the 2021 Ohioana Book Awards. The winners will be announced in July, and an awards ceremony is set for October 14th at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus. Hub City Press published the book on May 19, 2020.

GOLDEN GATES author Conor Dougherty was honored with a SABEW Best in Business award in the Real Estate – Large Division category for his 2020 coverage of housing and the pandemic for the New York Times. Penguin Press published Golden Gates on February 18, 2020.

Craig Davidson’s short story collection CASCADE is a finalist for the 2021 Trillium Book Award, Ontario's “leading award for literature" that was established to "recognize excellence, support marketing and foster increased public awareness of the quality and diversity of Ontario writers and writing.” They praise: “Reminiscent of Stephen King's brilliantly cinematic short stories that went on to inspire films such as THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION and STAND BY ME, here's a collection crackling with Craig Davidson's superb craft and kinetic energy: in the visceral, crystalline, steel-tipped prose; in the psychological perspicacity; and in the endearing humour.” Knopf Canada published the book on August 18, 2020.

Namwali Serpell's collection of speculative essays, STRANGER FACES, is a 2021 CLMP Firecracker Awards for Independently Published Literature finalist in the Creative Nonfiction category. The Firecracker Awards are given annually “to celebrate books and magazines that make a significant contribution to our literary culture and the publishers that strive to introduce important voices to readers far and wide.” The winners of the award will be announced on June 23rd at 7pm ET via a virtual awards ceremony hosted by The Center for Fiction.
