EDEN IN WINTER by Richard North Patterson

A review in the June 1, 2014 issue of Kirkus says “Patterson’s a pro” and calls EDEN IN WINTER “an intriguing psychological examination of a damaged family.” Quercus published the book on July 1, 2014.

THE ONE SAFE PLACE by Tania Unsworth

Tania Unsworth’s THE ONE SAFE PLACE was recently ranked on the Christian Scientist Monitor’s top 25 list for middle grade novels, calling it “a timeless story that deserves to become a children’s classic for decades to come.” Algonquin Young Readers published the book April 29, 2014.

ALL OUR NAMES by Dinaw Mengestu

Dinaw Mengestu’s ALL OUR NAMES was reviewed by The Guardian, which called the book “a significant moment in African literary history,” and said, “Already the recipient of a number of awards in the United States, including a MacArthur fellowship, [Mengestu] is rapidly becoming a writer on the global stage.” Knopf published the book on March 4, 2014.

AMERICAN ROMANTIC by Ward Just

AMERICAN ROMANTIC received a positive review in Sunday, June 8th’s edition of The New York Times Book Review. The review, Gail Godwin, praises the author as “both a writer’s writer and an astute tracker of human souls under duplicity and duress.” She also calls the book “one of his finest” and says that “it’s a good place to be introduced to his work.” Houghton Mifflin Harcourt published the book April 1, 2014.

THE DYNAMITE ROOM by Jason Hewitt

Jason Hewitt's THE DYNAMITE ROOM was reviewed in the Observer, which said, “[An] ambitious and often gripping debut novel…Hewitt has a strong sense of narrative pace and brings a strange poetry to his depiction of an exhausted and empty world… a very promising first novel.” The book was released first in the UK by Simon & Schuster on March 27, 2014.

YOU by Austin Grossman

Cory Doctorow promoted the paperback publication of Austin Grossman's YOU by republishing his initial review on Boing Boing in which he said “Some of YOU reads as pure poetry, others like a fascinating treatise on the unplumbed depths of the ludic urge, and taken as a whole, it is a novel that both uplifts and entertains, and reframes the world we live in and the things we do in it. It is easily one of the best books I've read this year.” Mulholland Books published the book in paperback April 8, 2014.

JOHN WAYNE: THE LIFE AND LEGEND by Scott Eyman

JOHN WAYNE: THE LIFE AND LEGEND was recently reviewed by The Economist and Kirkus. The Economist says “Like a cinematographer, Mr. Eyman offers readers Wayne from many angles, in his own words and the words of those who worked with him. Mr. Eyman has left an engrossing record of how the Duke stayed top dog for so long.” Kirkus calls it “insightful, exhaustive and engrossing – a definitive portrait of the man and the legend.” Simon and Schuster published the book on April 1, 2014.

The KNOWLEDGE by Lewis Dartnell

Lewis Dartnell’s THE KNOWLEDGE was reviewed in the Wall Street Journal and the Times and excerpts from the book have appeared in Esquire, Time Magazine and the Io9 blog. The Wall Street Journal said, “The Knowledge is a fun read full of optimism about human ingenuity,” while the Times said, "An extraordinary achievement. With lucidity and brevity, Dartnell explains the rudiments of a civilization. It is a great read even if civilization does not collapse." Penguin published the book April 17, 2014.

WISE MEN by Stuart Nadler

New in paperback, Stuart Nadler’s WISE MEN was reviewed in the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s New in Paperback column, which said, “Nadler’s sprawling saga is many things…But at its heart it’s the story of the complex, love/hate relationship between a father and son that grips the reader and won’t let go until the final explosive page…it never fails in its searing portrayal of messy, complicated family angst.” Little Brown published the book February 5, 2013
