Mary Pauline Lowry’s THE ROXY LETTERS has received two new stellar reviews. Booklist dubs its protagonist “far more than a cooler Bridget Jones—she’s a big-hearted, awkward, uproariously funny woman whose endearing antics and odd-yet-relatable struggles will resonate with millennial and Gen X readers,” and Kirkus notes that the book “[b]ursts with quirky spirit and gleeful comic energy.” Simon & Schuster will publish Lowry’s sophomore novel on April 7, 2020.
Ted Chiang’s "Anxiety is the Dizziness of Freedom" from his collection EXHALATION is a finalist for the 2019 Nebula Awards. The winners will be announced by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America on May 31, 2020. Knopf published the book on May 7, 2019.
Cathy Park Hong’s MINOR FEELINGS received enthusiastic reviews from NPR and the Chicago Review of Books. NPR describes it as “a major reckoning, pulling no punches . . . with cascading consequences,” while the Chicago Review of Books calls it “an urgent consideration of identity, social structures, and artistic practice.” Hong was interviewed by The Atlantic, which describes MINOR FEELINGS as “artful and rigorous, powerful and profound” and by Salon, which praises her “sharp wit and radical transparency.” Lit Hub also featured MINOR FEELINGS on their list of “10 shiny new books you should pick up this week,” lauding it as “an incisive book from one of our best poets and writers.” One World published the book on February 25, 2020.
Ariana Reines’ collection A SAND BOOK, which was longlisted last year for the National Book Award and praised by The New Yorker as “a psychedelic epic,” is now the winner of the 2020 Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award. Given to one exceptional mid-career poet each year, the Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award is one of the most prestigious prizes in poetry. Tin House published the book on June 18, 2019.
