MTV will air a drama series based on Terry Brooks’ much beloved SHANNARA books. Jon Favreau is to direct the series, and Al Gough and Miles Millar, whose credits include Smallville, will write the script. Dan Farah and Terry Brooks will help produce. WITCH WRAITH, the most recent book in the long running Shannara series, was published by Random House on July 16, 2013.

Ted Thompson’s THE LAND OF STEADY HABITS received a starred review in Booklist, which said of the “assured, compassionate first novel”: “With pitch-perfect prose and endearingly melancholy characters, Thompson offers up a heartbreaking vision of an ailing family and country.” Little, Brown will publish the book on March 25, 2014.

Derek B. Miller’s NORWEGIAN BY NIGHT was named one of the Books of the Year by the Economist and was also chosen as a Shelf-Awareness Top 10 Fiction Title of 2013. Said the Economist: “Not many authors succeed in being funny about dementia. This unusual thriller, with its memorable octogenarian hero, introduces a bold new voice in fiction that deserves to become better known.”

Olivia Laing, who was awarded the 2014 Eccles British Library Writer in Residence Award, was featured in Publishers Weekly discussing the award. Of the Eccles Award, Laing said, “I'm absolutely delighted to be an Eccles Writer in Residence at the British Library. I always found it a very stimulating and inspiring place to work.” Picador will publish her first book THE TRIP TO ECHO SPRING in the U.S. on December 24, 2013.

Ramona Ausubel’s A GUIDE TO BEING BORN was named one of the 10 Best Short Story Collections of 2013 by Flavorwire, which said, “A Guide to Being Born highlighted the author’s versatility soon after the publication of her great debut novel, 2012′s No One Is Here Except All of Us.” Riverhead published the book on May 2, 2013.

Manuel Gonzales’ THE MINIATURE WIFE was named one of the 10 Best Short Story Collections of 2013 by Flavorwire, which said, “A gifted and totally original storyteller, this Austin writer has the type of imagination and writing skills that will lure you in from the book’s first weird entry.” Riverhead published the book on January 10, 2013.

Andrew Sean Greer’s, THE IMPOSSIBLE LIVES OF GRETA WELLS is one of The New York Times 100 Notable Books of 2013. Ecco published the book June 25, 2013.

NPR named WILSON by A. Scott Berg one of the best books of 2013. In his recommendation, book critic Michael Schaub calls it a “thoughtful, absorbing biography” and “one of the most fast-paced, readable political biographies of recent times — and it's essential reading for anyone interested in 20th century American history.” Putnam published the book September 10, 2013.

NPR named YOU by Austin Grossman one of the best books of 2013. In her recommendation, Annalee Newitz calls it “a stylistic exploration of videogame writing, offering us pages of object and character descriptons just as they would be written before being converted into the code of a game. But it's also a coming-of-age story about how we never leave our fantasies behind. They become more real, and more powerful, as we age.” Mulholland Books published the book April 16, 2013.

Publishers Weekly named MIDDLE C by William Gass one of the top ten novels of 2013 saying “Gass’s fine sentences belong in their own museum.” Knopf published the book March 12, 2013.

NPR named A DUKE NEVER YIELDS one of the year’s best books. In her recommendation Bobbi Dumas calls it a “mesmerizing tale of romance and self-realization around their journey to love.” The book was also named by Kirkus Reviews as one of the Best Romances of 2013. Berkley published the book February 5, 2013.

NPR, The Washington Post and The New Yorker all named MY EDUCATION by Susan Choi one of the best books of 2013. In her NPR recommendation, Meg Wolitzer called it “thrilling and edgy." THE WASHINGTON POST, says “What makes this witty story so delicious is Choi’s style, the unflagging force of her scrutiny.” Rebecca Mead in her recommendation in the New Yorker says “The book surprised and thrilled me.” Viking published the book on July 3, 2013.
