Derek B. Miller’s NORWEGIAN BY NIGHT was named one of the Financial Times’ “Best Crime Novels of the Year.” The Financial Times called it “richly written.” Houghton Mifflin Harcourt published the book May 21, 2013.

Kevin Fong’s EXTREME MEDICINE received a starred review in Kirkus, which called it “a medical thriller of the first order.” The book was also positively reviewed by Publisher’s Weekly, which calls it “gripping” and “eloquent.” Penguin Press will publish the book on February 10, 2014.

Larry Watson’s LET HIM GO was reviewed in the Chicago Tribune, which said: "Let Him Go is a wonderful novel and a fine addition to Watson's work, right there with the early Montana 1948 and his more recent American Boy…Let Him Go is at its heart a character study, not only of George and Margaret but also its other characters, all of whom are brought to life in prose that is both restrained and exquisite." Olivia Laing’s THE TRIP TO ECHO SPRING has been shortlisted for the 2013 Costa Biography Award. In an official statement, the judges called it: “An enthralling meld of memoir, travelogue, literary biography and personal journey, which sends you eagerly back to the work of six troubled but brilliant US writers.” Picador will publish the book on December 24, 2013.

THE ABSENCE OF MERCY by John Burley has been selected as the Book of the Month Club’s National Black Ribbon winner, calling the title “a harrowing tale of suspense involving a brutal murder and dark secrets that lie beneath the surface of a placid, tight-knit Midwestern town.” William Morrow published the book on November 19, 2013.

Rilla Askew’s KIND OF KIN is included in November issue of Library Journal on the list of Cuyahoga County librarians’ favorite books of 2013....dubbed as “morally complex” and “a thoroughly engaging read.” Ecco published the book January 8, 2013.

Ramona Ausubel’s A GUIDE TO BEING BORN is one of The New York Times 100 Notable Books of 2013. Riverhead published the book May 2, 2013.

Victoria Wilson’s A LIFE OF BARBARA STANWYCK received a starred review in Booklist. The review calls it “richly researched” and a “fabulous and expansive examination of the life on an iconic American actress.” Simon & Schuster published the book on November 12, 2013.

THE ABSENCE OF MERCY received a positive review in Booklist. The review says Burley “sensitively portrays parents dealing with damage and loss in a well-constructed plot with increasing tension.” The review also calls the book a “relentlessly readable thriller that will leave readers of suspense waiting for more.” HarperCollins published the book on November 19, 2013.
