Deadline announced that Kenyan filmmaker Wanuri Kahiu is set to direct the feature film adaptation of Angie Thomas’ ON THE COME UP. Kahiu will helm a powerhouse team of Black female creative talent, including Kay Oyegun, who is adapting the novel, and Angie Thomas herself, who is producing. Balzer + Bray published the book on February 5, 2019.

AudioFile recommends ALICE'S FARM by Maryrose Wood as “a fun, family-friendly story,” and a “new tale that feels like a classic.” Feiwel & Friends published the book on September 1, 2020.

The New Yorker featured Maxim Loskutoff’s debut novel RUTHIE FEAR in its “Briefly Noted” section, praising the way “Loskutoff uses tropes of the Western—vivid depictions of mountain landscapes and hunting scenes—to offer a subtle portrayal of poverty and class warfare.” W. W. Norton & Company published the book on September 1, 2020.

Rock photographer Bob Gruen was featured in the New York Post. He discussed his book, RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME, noting that this book is very different from other ones he has published: “When you develop a trust and a friendship, then when you are taking pictures you’re in a much more comfortable situation…This is not a photo book – it’s a word book. Netflix has acquired the film rights to CYBERSTORM by Matthew Mather. Screenwriter Matt Lopez will pen the adaptation, with Sebastian Hofmann attached to direct and Emile Gladstone on board to produce. Matthew Mather self-published CYBERSTORM on March 15, 2013.

Maxim Loskutoff was interviewed by Steven Wingate of the Fiction Writers Review about his debut novel, RUTHIE FEAR. A LOVER’S DISCOURSE by Xiaolu Guo was shortlisted for the 2020 Goldsmiths Prize. The annual prize is awarded to a book that “is deemed genuinely novel and which embodies the spirit of invention that characterises the genre at its best.” The winner will be announced on November 11th. Additionally, the book has received glowing praise from Lit Hub, PopSugar, The Christian Science Monitor, The Chicago Review of Books, Ms. Magazine, and The Guardian. Ms. Magazine calls the book “[s]upple and genuine…A candid examination of love and relationships,” while The Guardian describes it as “a fragmentary meditation on the nature of love, on desire and on connection between two humans.” Grove Press published A LOVER’S DISCOURSE on October 13, 2020.

Brian Muraresku joined Michael Smerconish to discuss THE IMMORTALITY KEY, both on CNN and on Smerconish’s SiriusXM program. Smerconish praises the book as “tremendous” and “stunning,” noting that Muraresku has “something big on [his] hands here." Dylan Farrow spoke with USA Today and NPR about her new YA fantasy novel, HUSH. “We are living in a time where information is getting manipulated and weaponized, and we are constantly bombarded with it,” Farrow says. “How do you find the truth in that information, in that quagmire? Where does it reside? Who gets to control it? And how far is too far in the pursuit of truth?” The book has also been named a must-read of the season in lists by BookRiot, Gizmodo, HelloGiggles, and Medium.
