Audible named DELE WEDS DESTINY as one of their top 12 audiobooks of June. Audible Editor Margaret Hargrove writes: “[The] resiliency of female friendship is what drew me to DELE WEDS DESTINY... Narrator Tariye Peterside gives each woman a distinct voice that results in a beautifully vivid and lush performance I couldn’t stop listening to. You’ll laugh, cry, and feel your heart swell as these women rediscover their bonds of friendship and face a shocking crisis right before the big day.” Obaro also sat down with Chicago Magazine to discuss the writing process and inspirations for her novel: “I’ve always been drawn to novels about long-lasting friendships and how they change over time. And I was inspired by the relationship my mom has with her two best friends as well. I also thought it would be fun to structure the book around a wedding but to have the heart of the novel really focus on friendships — as opposed to romantic love, which attracts a disproportionate amount of attention…I really tried to write from a place of empathy for each character, even if the portrayals could seem a little unflattering.”
Knopf publishes the novel on June 28, 2022.
