National Book Award-winning author Sigrid Nunez wrote a glowing review of Hermione Hoby’s novel VIRTUE for the December issue of The New York Review of Books. Nunez praises VIRTUE for its “psychological acuity” and “Nabokovian eye for beauty,” with a “delightful…deliberately parched, matter-of-fact style.” Nunez also applauds the novel’s “skillfully drawn” characters, “each possessing a distinctive, nuanced personality and a complicated psyche,” adding: “Hoby’s gift for sensual description makes us feel we know them viscerally.” Riverhead Books published VIRTUE on July 20, 2021.
