The LA TIMES called it “a comprehensive and thoughtful biography” and says that “Hilburn does an artful, enviable job of reconciling all the facets [of Cash]…[and] writes with a remarkably steady hand. Salon discussed it in a piece on big biographies and excerpts from the book were published on the Daily Beast, which called it “a vivid new biography.”
