Kira Watson joined Janklow & Nesbit Associates in August of 2018 as a Foreign Rights Coordinator before transitioning to the Finance & Technology Department. Prior to joining Janklow & Nesbit Associates, Kira got her start in publishing nearly a decade ago at a boutique NYC based literary agency. She oversaw foreign rights, subsidiary rights, and built her own list of clients while gaining a broader understanding of the ins and outs of publishing. Kira graduated from Hunter College with a BA in English (with a focus on Creative Writing) and in Russian Language & Culture.
Kira is looking for provocative, peculiar, and exploratory works of fiction with characters who feel like they can step off the page. Works in the vein of Notes on an Execution by Danya Kukafka, Kill Show by Daniel Sweren-Becker, and Jobs for Girls with Artistic Flair by June Gervais. Kira is also interested in horror that is subversive and laced with dark humor, sharp dialogue, and just enough creepiness to leave the reader with goosebumps long after the last page. Works like The Final Girl Support Group by Grady Hendrix, American Rapture by C.J. Leede, and We Used to Live Here by Marcus Kliewer are bound to catch Kira’s attention.
