HOW LITERATURE SAVED MY LIFE by David Shields
David Shields’ HOW LITERATURE SAVED MY LIFE was positively reviewed in the Financial Times, The New Statesman, Washington Independent Review, Monterey County Weekly, Southern Bookman, and BookPage, which called the book “an original, intimate, energetic and fascinating exploration of self-discovery and the future of literature.”

The New Statesman called Shields “an invigorating polemicist, as well as a subtle and amusing memoirist, while the Washington Independent Review raved, “The riffs are often dazzling and the pleasure of reading Shields is that he is so constantly amped; his writing gives off joules of intellectual energy.” Monterey County Weekly called Shields a “brainiac,” and Southern Bookman raved, “Shields pulls off a neat paradoxical trick of a book.” Knopf published the book February 5, 2013.
