The New York Times named James A. McLaughlin’s debut novel one of “9 New Books We Recommend This Week.” The book was also reviewed in the crime column. The reviewer Marilyn Stasio calls it a “gruesomely gorgeous debut novel about an imperfect hero” and says “McLaughlin writes about the natural world with casual lyricism and un-self-conscious joy, while describing physical violence so vividly you want to look away.” Ecco published the book on June 12, 2018.
Hannah Orenstein’s debut novel PLAYING WITH MATCHES is one of Elite Daily’s 6 Books About Dating In Your 20s That Are Ridiculously Relatable. Us Weekly’s Happy Ever After column interviewed Hannah on the day of her publication, and Bustle featured Hannah’s novel in an article comparing it to ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ for matchmaking. Hannah penned a piece for Washington Post about her experiences as a matchmaker, which served as the inspiration for her book.
The Guardian recently reviewed the reissued edition of CARNET DE VOYAGE. The reviewer, Rachel Cooke, calls it a “lovely edition” and says “Clever, funny and disarmingly honest, it is, of course, predictably lovely to look at; Thompson is a master sketcher.
