REAL AMERICANS by Rachel Khong
Anticipation is building for Rachel Khong’s forthcoming REAL AMERICANS four months ahead of its US publication. The novel has graced most anticipated lists from The Washington Post, Time, Good Housekeeping, Electric Literature, Oprah Daily, Vulture, Kirkus, and more. A starred review from Kirkus praises: “[The] concern for how and why we turn out the way we do animates [REAL AMERICANS] on every level, and along with science, social constructs like race and class play major roles. Every character is dear, and every one of them makes big mistakes, causing a ripple effect of anger and estrangement that we watch with dismay, and hope. Bold, thoughtful, and delicate at once, addressing life’s biggest questions through artfully crafted scenes and characters.” Meanwhile, the book was selected as the May pick for Roxane Gay’s Audacious Book Club, and was selected as one of a handful of Gwenyth Paltrow’s personal most-anticipated reads in her Goop newsletter. Knopf will publish REAL AMERICANS on April 30, 2024.
